Office of the Provost
Becoming provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I am truly excited to be part of the Binghamton University leadership team. I'm proud to be partnering with President Harvey Stenger, the other vice presidents and the deans as ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ continues its stellar upward trajectory.
As I continue to learn about the campus, I have been deeply impressed with everyone’s commitment to students, research and the surrounding community, and I am gratified to see that Binghamton shares many of my personal passions for diversity, internationalization and multi-disciplinary collaborations.
News
Our academic culture rivals a first-rate private university — rigorous, collaborative and boldly innovative — while our campus culture exemplifies the best kind of public university experience: richly diverse students, active social life and deep engagement within the community.
Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence
In 2013, ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ developed a new approach to hiring faculty and supporting research by creating Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence (TAEs). All are areas of inquiry in which Binghamton has developed strength in research and graduate education and raise complex questions. The TAEs address critical social, scientific, technological, economic, cultural and policy issues that can best be addressed by teams of faculty employing the perspectives and methodologies of multiple disciplines.
Social Justice
ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ is dedicated to the advancement of social justice for all individuals and populations. To that end, a number of institutes and centers have been established to promote research, ideas, communication and critical discourse in areas including human rights; equality for women and girls; and global health, progressive education and well-being for marginalized populations.
