Additional information on how to Apply to the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Binghamton’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is a research-intensive professional school offering a four-year program leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
We graduated our first cohort of PharmD students in spring 2021 and are educating students in the value of evidence-based, patient-centered pharmaceutical care and innovative research. We embrace interprofessional education, which allows students to learn about, from and with other healthcare professionals like nurse practitioner, social work, public health and medical students in the classroom and through practice experiences. Our graduates will be prepared to serve their communities in socially responsible ways to improve health and well-being being while practicing at the top of their licenses.
PharmD students will learn contemporary pharmacy skills in cutting-edge teaching laboratories and interact one-on-one with dedicated faculty, who are active in research and clinical practice. With a student-to faculty ratio of 10-to-1, the school fosters strong mentoring relationships and fulfilling experiences.

Internships, Research Opportunities and More
The curriculum for the PharmD program includes robust rotations; an emphasis on interprofessional education and teamwork; and courses in pharmacy management, hospital practice and pharmacoeconomics. Through a formal research track and a capstone experience, students have the opportunity to work with leading scholars and researchers in pharmacy practice, health outcomes and pharmaceutical science.
After You Graduate
There are many career pathways for graduates with a PharmD degree. You will find pharmacy graduates working in clinical settings (hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, health systems, long-term care centers), retail settings (community pharmacies), research, academia, regulatory agencies, associations, consulting in the pharmaceutical or insurance industries, pharmaceutical sales, and working for the federal government (armed forces, Federal Drug Administration, National Institutes of Health).
The demand for trained pharmacy professionals has increased in recent years due to the rapid growth of the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, especially for our growing elderly population. The number of pharmacists in healthcare services is also increasing as pharmacists become more actively involved in drug therapy decision-making for patients of all ages.
