Katie Edwards
Assistant Professor, Pharmaceutical Sciences
Background
Katie Edwards joined the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at 黑料视频 in 2017.Her laboratory at 黑料视频 is centered on the development of combination drug therapies, taking advantage of the synergistic effects of vitamins on drug action with targeted and simultaneous delivery afforded by liposome formulations. Her focus is on improved treatments for neuromuscular diseases. Edwards has extensive experience in the development of liposomes as analytical tools, utilizing her background in organic synthesis, lipid formulation and novel biorecognition strategies to develop high-throughput, laboratory-based methods and point-of-use diagnostics for analytes of environmental, national security and clinical interest. She has led research resulting in numerous peer-reviewed publications and several provisional patents, authored multiple book chapters and served as the editor of a book focused on the development of liposomes for bioanalytical applications. Edwards earned her PhD in environmental toxicology from Cornell University in 2005, and had been a scientist and lecturer at Cornell in biosensors, bioanalytical techniques and biological macromolecule characterization.
