The Rescue Mission (originally based in Syracuse) opened a supportive residence in Binghamton in November of 2010 to provide housing to homeless men. With room for 32 men, Whitney Place provides not only a home but three meals a day, clothing and transportation if needed, and vocational and educational resources as well as connections to employment. Our ultimate goal for each of the men that we serve is to help them become independent and productive members of this community. We are a predominantly private-donation-funded non-profit organization. Much of our revenue also comes from our local Thrifty Shopper, a thrift store providing quality, inexpensive clothing and household items to the community. We also host fundraising events and community meals throughout the year.
