Calculus Placement Exam (CPE)

The CPE is a prerequisite for all students enrolled in a Math 220, Math 223 (Intro to Calculus), or Math 224 (Differential Calculus) course at BU. Our office administers this exam over the summer on behalf of the Math Department. More information regarding this assessment can be found on the .

Register for the Exam

To register for the exam, schedule an appointment by navigating to our , then select:

  3. Non-Accommodated Student*  

Then choose the date and time that works best for you. Please note, spaces are limited and additional time slots may not be added. Register for your appointment as soon as possible to reserve your seat.

*Students with documented accommodations from the Services for Students with Disabilities office and who have contacted SSD and received permission for an alternate exam should select the "Accommodated Students" option when registering for their exam. Only those students will be granted access to an extended time exam. Additional information regarding accommodations can be found on the Services for Students with Disabilities website at /ssd/

  • Rescheduling an Appointment
    1. Go to
    2. Click the My Account/ My Exams/ My History tab at the top of the page.
    3. Enter the email address you used to initially schedule your exam.
    4. Click the Continue button underneath the email field.
    5. In a few minutes, you'll receive an email link which is valid for 90 minutes.
    6. Click the link from the email received.
    7. A new window will open with your registration history.
    8. Click the Reschedule link.
    9. A calendar will appear with the available dates for rescheduling purposes.
    10. Click the date and time to reschedule.
    11. After you have completed the step above, you will receive a confirmation email notifying you of the new test date.
  • Cancelling an Appointment
    1. Go to
    2. Click the My Account/ My Exams/ My History tab at the top of the page.
    3. Enter the email address you used to initially schedule your exam.
    4. Click the Continue button underneath the email field.
    5. In a few minutes, you'll receive an email link which is valid for 90 minutes.
    6. Click the link from the email received.
    7. A new window will open with your registration history.
    8. Click the  Cancel link.
    9. If you are sure you want to cancel, click "Yes, cancel my registration"
