All applicants to the Master of Public Health degree program must satisfy the general conditions and procedures for graduate admission to ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ.
To be eligible for graduate study, you must:
- Provide a complete set of your official undergraduate (and, if applicable, graduate)
transcripts showing one of the following:
- You have earned a bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university
- You are within one academic year of earning a bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent) from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university
- You are eligible to apply as part of a memorandum of understanding between your current institution and ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ
- Have earned, at minimum, one of the following:
- A 3.0 GPA over your entire undergraduate career
- A 3.0 GPA during your last 60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits of your undergraduate degree, with most courses graded regularly (not as "pass/fail")
- A 3.0 GPA in a graduate degree, with most courses graded regularly (not as "pass/fail")
- Considering the different grading scales used worldwide, each academic department evaluates international transcripts case-by-case to determine whether they demonstrate one of the above requirements
Applications for Binghamton's MPH program are accepted through , the centralized application service for public health.
You must submit the following materials to apply:
- SOPHAS application and application fee
- Official transcripts from each college or university you have attended
- A successful background in quantitative coursework is expected
- Personal statement (2-3 pages) outlining your motivation for pursuing graduate study, career goals, specific interests within your field and any unique aspects of your background requiring explanation or of interest to the graduate admissions committee
- Résumé or curriculum vitae
- 2 letters of recommendation
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores are not routinely required, but may be requested based on evaluation of official transcripts
Note: An applicant who does not meet the academic requirements for admission may be admitted conditionally (refer to Binghamton's Graduate Policies and Procedures). A conditional admission indicates that, although the candidate did not meet admission requirements, other elements of the application (such as the personal statement, reference letters, etc.) suggest they possess the potential to be successful. Students admitted conditionally must have satisfactory academic performance in the first semester of the MPH program to receive a change in status to "regular."

How to apply through SOPHAS
Applicants to Binghamton's Master of Public Health (MPH) program apply through SOPHAS, the centralized application system for public health. SOPHAS is a service of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH), which represents CEPH-accredited schools and programs of public health.

If you have a felony or child abuse conviction
Students who have a previous felony or child abuse conviction are advised that their prior criminal history may impede their ability to complete the requirements of certain academic programs and/or meet the licensure requirements of certain professions. Students with a prior criminal history should also be aware that agencies for clinical, field or internship experiences may require a background check. A prior criminal history may preclude participation in such experiences at these agencies. Students concerned about these restrictions are advised to contact the program director of their intended academic program.

NOTE: The SOPHAS application requires submission of official transcripts and verification of application materials. This verification process can take 2–4 weeks, so submit your application as early as possible.
