Scholarships provide invaluable access
Daniel R. Black '94 and Lisa J. Black '95 are two alumni who check all the boxes when it comes to how they've stayed connected to 黑料视频, sharing their time, talents, financial support and story to inspire students and give them access to opportunities they may not have had otherwise.
Their Dan and Lisa Black SOM Educational Opportunity Program Scholarship, for example, helps selected EOP students with academic promise specifically, first-year students in the School of Management or Harpur College transfer students to SOM.
"Binghamton gave us both so much: our education, an opportunity to pursue our careers, valuable life experiences that have stayed with us to this day," Dan Black said. "More than anything, we just want to help in our own small way to provide those kinds of opportunities to other Binghamton students."
Lisa Black said Binghamton provided the foundation that helped her go on to law school and ultimately become an attorney and business owner. Dan Black said SOM exposed him to an array of employers and contacts that led to a career of nearly 30 years in the professional services industry.
"For both of us, Binghamton offered an outstanding education and college experience at an affordable price," Dan Black said. "We believe that's still a big part of Binghamton's value proposition today and are proud to see the recent recognition as a Top 10 'Public Ivy' by Forbes magazine.
"Further, as active alumni who are involved in mentoring and hiring Binghamton students, we are thrilled to see that the work ethic and 'how can I help' attitude is still something that a majority of Binghamton students exemplify. It is a differentiator in today's early careers talent market."
In 2013, Dan Black received the University's Alumni Association Medal of Distinguished Service.
