Balanced Bearcats beat New Hampshire

Senior guard Orla O鈥橰eilly led a balanced attack with a team-high 15 points, leading Binghamton (10-10, 4-3 AE) to a 64-55 victory at New Hampshire (10-9, 3-4 AE) in an America East Conference women鈥檚 basketball game on Jan. 22, at Lundholm Gym in Durham, N.H. The victory is the second straight for the Bearcats, whose five starters all reached double figures in scoring.
Senior forward Viive Rebane and sophomore guard Jasbriell Swain each added 12 points while senior point guard Andrea Holmes and senior forward Sinead O鈥橰eilly both chipped in 10 points. Rebane added nine rebounds while Sinead O鈥橰eilly hit all four of her shots from the field.
鈥淲e battled our way to a lead in the first half but picked up the defensive intensity in the second half,鈥 head coach Nicole Scholl said. 鈥淪inead stepped in and performed great today. She played extremely hard and took advantage of her opportunities around the basket.鈥
Up 33-32 with 15:51 left in regulation, Binghamton blew the game open with a 19-0 run in a span of 5:30 to go up 52-32 with 9:21 left to go. Sinead O鈥橰eilly had five of her points during that stretch and the Bearcats scored eight of their points off turnovers. Binghamton鈥檚 lead grew as big as 62-38 with 5:09 left in regulation.
