The Binghamton men鈥檚 soccer program has added five players for the upcoming season. All of them will be freshmen when they arrive for preseason in August.

鈥淥ur program is excited to welcome such a talented and diverse group of players to our program,鈥� head coach Paul Marco said. 鈥淲e are adding some special and truly exceptional student athletes. This class has attacking flair, creativity, tenacity, as well as terrific competitive spirit鈥攖he staple of our program鈥檚 success. They will provide us great competition and depth when combined with a very strong returning group of players. Perhaps one of the greatest qualities (Assistant) Coach (Nic) Rossi and I believe we have in this class is in their character and attitude. These guys understand our culture and are ready to embrace their role and play their part. This group exemplifies the standard of excellence we aspire to both in the classroom and on the field. Most of all they understand the value of commitment and hard work.鈥�

Isaiah Barrett (Wilson, N.Y.) is a forward from Wilson High School. He was also a part of the Revolution Empire U-18 Development Academy Team.

鈥淚saiah is skillful athletic striker,鈥� Marco said. 鈥淗e has great athletic ability and a nose for the goal.鈥�

Justin Dragin (Ottawa, Ontario) is a center back from Shattuck-St. Mary鈥檚 High School in Minnesota. He is also a member of their U-18 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Team.

鈥淛ustin is a great competitor and is a tenacious defender,鈥� Marco said. 鈥淗e loves the competitive battle and thrives one the 1-v-1 challenge.鈥�

Jack Nelson (Woodbridge, Va.) is a midfielder from Hylton High School. In 2013, he scored 12 goals and tallied 15 assists. He also plays club soccer for PWSI in Virginia.

鈥淛ack brings great energy to the game,鈥� Marco said. 鈥淗e loves the ball and scoring goals and can play anywhere in midfield and maybe even at striker.鈥�

Ben Ovetsky (Irvington, N.Y.) is a forward from Irvington High School. He was a NYSSWA Small School first-team all-state selection after scoring 23 goals and tallying eight assists in 2013. Ovetsky finished his career with 81 goals. His club team is the New York Soccer Club.

鈥淏en is an attacking minded player with electric pace and a thirst for taking players on,鈥� head coach Paul Marco said. 鈥淗e can play in several attacking positions but loves to play wide.鈥�

Zach Pogrob (Commack, N.Y.) is a center back from Commack High School. He was also a member of Smithtown Arsenal S.C., which won the 2013 Youth Soccer National Championship. They have also won Region I Championships, ENY State Cups, USYS National League and top national showcase events.

鈥淶ach鈥檚 good size and strength combined with his aggressive spirit makes him a very good center back,鈥� Marco said.
