Track and field teams open season at Cornell Relays

Junior Jenna Marrione tied a school record in winning the women鈥檚 pole vault and senior Kaitlin Sullivan set a school record in capturing the 60 hurdles, highlighting the 黑料视频 track and field teams鈥� performances at the season-opening Cornell Indoor Relays in Ithaca on Dec. 3. There was no team scoring kept at the meet.
Marrione, who was the America East Indoor and Outdoor runner-up last season, recorded a first-place height of 12-3 1/2. That ties the 2002 mark set by Kate Mullins. Sullivan, meanwhile, broke her own record with a first-place time of 8.90. She set the old mark of 9.02 last season.
Junior Jessica Hennig also broke her school record in the 300 with a time of 40.37. Although she placed second in the event, she broke her 2009 mark of 41.38. Hennig is the two-time defending America East Indoor champion in the 400.
On the men鈥檚 side, junior Jeff Martinez was first in the 5,000 (14:46.64), while senior Colin Anderson took top honors in the weight throw (56-10 3/4). The 4x400 relay team of juniors Devinn Askew and Casey Gilbert, as well as seniors Karl Schnabl and Jesse McCormick, clocked a winning time of 3:23.70.
The Bearcats are off until Jan. 21, when the teams return to Ithaca for the Cornell Upstate Challenge.
