Laurie M. Kasperek, greenhouse manager, was inducted into the Hall of Fame of The Friesian Horse Association of North America, the North American arm of the Dutch studbook, Het Friesch Paarden Stamboek, in February 2011. This honor is reserved for FHANA members who have, through personal or economic sacrifice, put the Association before their personal or economic gain. “We believe that Laurie educated more FHANA members on this complicated breed than any other individual in our Association. Her countless contributions to the magazine taught all of us the challenges involved with Friesian horses. As a member, Laurie helped start the Education Committee in 1998. She became editor of The Friesian magazine in 2002. Kasperek is the first inductee into the FHANA Hall of Fame by way of membership action. She was unanimously approved by the Great Lakes Friesian Horse Association and the FHANA Board of Directors, and she received a 95 percent approval by FHANA Chapter vote.
