A new series on modern African writers began on Oct. 7, at the Library of Congress with a talk by Ali Mazrui, Albert Schweitzer Professor of the Humanities and director of the Institute of Global Cultural Studies, who gave an overview of the general topic of 鈥淧ost-Independence African Literature.鈥� He addressed the larger question 鈥� 鈥淐an we speak of an African literature. How does that fit in with Africa today?鈥� The programs are being coordinated with the library鈥檚 Poetry and Literature Center and the Africa Society of the National Summit on Africa.
