A new series on modern African writers began on Oct. 7, at the Library of Congress with a talk by Ali Mazrui, Albert Schweitzer Professor of the Humanities and director of the Institute of Global Cultural Studies, who gave an overview of the general topic of 鈥淧ost-Independence African Literature.鈥 He addressed the larger question 鈥 鈥淐an we speak of an African literature. How does that fit in with Africa today?鈥 The programs are being coordinated with the library鈥檚 Poetry and Literature Center and the Africa Society of the National Summit on Africa.
