University Police Officer John Nunez assisted the Broome County Sheriff’s Department Thursday, Aug. 16. Sheriff’s deputies had detained two Honduran suspects stopped for a vehicle violation. The men were unable to provide citizenship papers or green cards and spoke only Spanish. The Sheriff’s Department requested Nunez who served as a translator for the suspects. No charges were filed against the men, who were taken into custody by the United States Border Patrol.
