Sandra Michael, distinguished service professor, began a term as chair of the NCAA Division I Initial-Eligibility Waivers Committee, after serving as a committee member for the prior two years. The committee reports directly to the NCAA Academic Cabinet and reviews requests for waivers of the initial-eligibility requirements for student-athletes who have graduated from a nondomestic secondary-school system and who do not meet the initial academic requirements.
