Maria Mazziotti Gillan, professor of English, general literature and rhetoric, and director of the Binghamton Center for Writers and the Creative Writing Program, was awarded the George Garrett Award for Outstanding Community Service in Literature by the Association of Writers and Writing Programs at its annual conference in February in Seattle. The award recognizes individuals who have worked tirelessly in support of writers.
