8 Fun Things To Do Family Weekend at Binghamton

Binghamton Family Weekend is coming up with a variety of fun festivities for new and returning families! The events take place Friday through Sunday, Sept. 20–22. It’s a great time to get together and enjoy the fun, whether you are here with your family or just hanging out with friends. Check out some of the most anticipated events for the weekend!

Roast marshmallows at the Newing Bonfire

Take part in fun activities at the Family Weekend Bonfire to commemorate your first night in Binghamton! Enjoy cider, donuts, smores, marshmallows and music at the Newing College Fire Pit (behind C4 Dining Hall) from 7-9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20.

Watch Despicable Me

When his former nemesis Maxime Le Mal seeks revenge, supervillain and secret agent Gru moves his family to safety. Watch the hilarious fourth installment of Despicable Me in The Union Underground Lounge from 8-10 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20.

Cheer on Binghamton student-athletes

Cheer on our men’s and women’s sports teams! There is NO CHARGE for admission to any of the games. Come on out and show your support!

Look out for Bing Bling

How much do you know about ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ? Keep an eye out for the Bing Bling vehicle from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21! The Office of New Student Programs will be traveling throughout campus and asking trivia questions about ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ and the surrounding area. Participants will receive a special prize!

Play games at the Late Nite Carnival

Check out the Late Nite Carnival from 8 p.m.-midnight, Sept. 21! Check in at the Tillman Lobby to get a LateNite wristband. Play carnival games, eat popcorn and snow cones, and win prizes throughout the night! While there is no charge for entry, a student ID or a Family Weekend wristband is needed.

Check out the Pub Pop Up Event

From 1970 until 1998, the original Campus Pub was an institution on campus. There will be pictures and souvenirs from the old campus bar featured at the pop-up event. Come celebrate the pub’s history or learn about it for the first time at The Fireplace Lounge in the Union from 8-10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21! There will be a cash bar (cashless/cards only) and food.

Explore the Link Exhibition Wall

The 20-foot exhibit case and touchscreen video display of the Link Collections Exhibit include artifacts and information on local inventor Edwin Link. Among Link’s innovations were an underwater decompression chamber for underwater research and the first flying simulation trainer. Learn about Link at the North Reading Room, on the 2nd floor of Bartle Library, next to the Special Collections entry, from noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22.

Tour the Nature Preserve

Explore the ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ Nature Preserve on a guided tour sponsored by Friends of the Nature Preserve all weekend long! Take in the stunning scenery and signs of wildlife, such as beaver lodges. Meet in the Upper End of Lot M1 on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 1-2 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 22 from 10-11 a.m.

Gabriela Cafaro is an intern for the Office of Media and Public Relations, and an English major with a minor in writing. She is from Brooklyn and enjoys creating short form video blogs. After graduating, she aspires to work in a marketing related field.
