Professor

Physics, Applied Physics and Astronomy

Background

Bonggu Shim received his PhD in physics from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006 and BS in physics from Seoul National University, South Korea in 1997. He joined the Physics Department in August 2012. Shim's research focuses on experimental and theoretical studies of high intensity laser-matter interactions on femtosecond time scales such as high-order harmonic generation and laser filamentation, laser material processing and micromachining for energy storage and solar cell devices, and high power laser design and construction.
