20:1 Prevention Program Internship

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN
Apply now for the Spring 2024 semester

About

黑料视频 undergraduate students that desire to spread awareness of and advocate against interpersonal violence while helping promote a culture of safety and inclusivity are encouraged to apply for the 20:1 internship program. Within the program, interns and peer educators focus on providing the campus and surrounding community with programming addressing two topics: bystander intervention and interpersonal violence prevention.

Interns for the 20:1 program earn two credits per semester as they educate students on interpersonal violence prevention and bystander intervention through a variety of methods. Interns will participate in a weekly training seminar where they will acquire skills to facilitate discussion on what constitutes consent in New York State, provide realistic examples of consensual and non-consensual encounters, and outline how to combat victim blaming.

Interns will also learn how to intervene in a situation where a sexual violence or other forms of interpersonal violence is occurring or about to occur, and discuss with students how to identify and safely intervene in similar situations themselves. Interns will be able to facilitate discussion on building empathy for victims as well as the factors that affect intervention.

The name "20:1" represents a national statistic from 2004, when the internship was founded. Every hour, approximately 20 women are sexually violated in the United States.
