Summer housing is available May 27-Aug 10
Summer housing is only available to students who have a direct University-related summer affiliation. Although space is limited, Summer housing is available for both ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ students and non-ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ students who are taking summer courses and/or engaging in University-sponsored programs or research which requires being on campus for the Summer.
- Term 1 housing dates: May 27-July 2
- Term 2 housing dates: July 7-August 10
- Full summer housing dates: May 27-August 10
The above dates are firm and requests for early-arrivals or late-stays cannot be accommodated.
Students can apply for Term 1 only, Term 2 only, or the full Summer. Summer housing is not available on a weekly basis.
All Summer housing is in the Apartments Community. Students living in Summer housing will be assigned by Residential Life and should expect to share an apartment with other Summer residents.
Housing type
When completing the housing application, all students are required to select their housing type.
Housing Type 1: Housing based on Gender Identity
- Students who choose this housing type live with others who share the same gender identity.
Information regarding gender identity and how to enter your gender identity with the University is available on the Student Records website.
Housing Type 2: Gender Inclusive Housing
- Students who choose this housing type live with others who may or may not share the same gender identity, with the intention of creating a welcoming environment for all.
- Students who select Gender Inclusive Housing agree to the Gender Inclusive Housing agreement indicating their desire to live with a direct roommate of any gender identity. Students who do not wish to live with others of every gender should select Housing Type 1.
Cost/billing
The Summer housing rates are:
- Term1: $1,470
- Term 2: $1,470
- Full Summer: $3,234
ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ students will be billed by Student Accounts via their student account.
Non-ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ students will be billed directly in a single invoice.
Housing costs for individuals whose housing is covered by a research or other program will be billed directly to the program.
Residential Life cannot arrange for payment plans, alter billing cycles, etc.
Housing agreement
All students (Binghamton and non-Binghamton) residing on campus during the summer must agree to the 2023-24 University Housing Agreement and Student Code of Conduct.
ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ students who violate these policies may be subject to loss of Summer housing and/or student conduct action. Non-ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ students may be subject to loss of housing as well as notification to the sponsoring organization. The Dean of Students/Vice President of Student Affairs of the student’s home campus will also be notified.

Check-in
Check-in is in the Apartments Area Office, Susquehanna Choconut 102.

Term 1: Check in Monday, May 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Term 2: Check in Sunday, July 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Residents wishing to check in outside of these times may do so during regular business hours (8:30 a.m–noon and 1–4 p.m. Monday–Friday). We cannot accommodate requests for early check-ins. Students planning to arrive after the designated check-in time should email apts@binghamton.edu.
Check-out
Check-out dates
- Summer Session 1 check-out is Tuesday, July 2
- Summer Session 2/full summer check-out is Saturday Aug. 10
Students must complete the check-out process and return keys by 12:00 P.M. noon on their check-out date. Please note we are not able to grant requests for late-stays.
Check-out process
- Pick up an express check-out envelope from the Area Office (Choconut 102) prior to your check-out date.
- Remove all belongings from your apartment.
- Clean your room and apartment.
- Take all trash to dumpster.
- Fill out the information on the express check-out envelope, put all keys and access card (if applicable) inside, and seal the envelope. Place the envelope in the drop box outside of the Area Office (Choconut 102).
- Any damages will be assessed and billed accordingly.
- Students wishing to arrange for a walk-through with a staff member should contact the area office to schedule an appointment. Appointments must be scheduled prior to your departure date.

Maintenance
Facilities Management may need to access your apartment throughout the Summer to perform routine maintenance. When this becomes necessary, residents typically will be given a minimum of 24 hours advance notice. Residents are expected to be cooperative in allowing access to their apartment/room.
Work orders
If something needs to be repaired in your apartment, contact the Apartments Area Office (Choconut 102) at 607-777-2904, extension 1, email apts@binghamton.edu, or stop by the Area Office during business hours. You will need to provide specific information regarding the issue, your contact information, and when you will be available for apartment access.
Emergency work orders
For emergency issues, call 607-777-2904, extension 1, during business hours. After 4 p.m. or weekends, call 607-777-2904, extension 2, or contact ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ Police.
Lost keys and lock-outs
If you lose your key, notify Residential Life staff immediately. Students who lose keys are billed for the re-key.

Apartment-style living
Apartment style living is an independent living experience in which students are self-sufficient with respect to cooking, cleaning, etc.
Our apartments are fully furnished and offer single bedrooms with a shared living room, bathroom, and kitchen. Kitchens contain a full-sized refrigerator, stove/oven, sink, and cabinets. Students provide their own microwave (less than 1,000 watts) if they want one. Automatic dishwashers are not permitted.
While the apartments are furnished, students do need to provide their own bedding, cooking items (pots, pans, plates/utensils, etc.) as well as paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags and cleaning products. See our What to Bring guide for more details.
Most apartments do not have air conditioning. Students are welcome to bring fans but air conditioners are not permitted.
Laundry
Laundry room locations are different for each building but are generally on the ground floor. You may need card access. Laundry facilities are free but residents need to bring their own detergent.
Dining services during the Summer
Full-service dining is not provided on campus during the Summer months. Retail dining is open for limited hours Monday through Friday for breakfast and lunch. For complete information on Summer dining options and hours visit the .
Mail services
Summer mail service dates are Tuesday, May 28 through Friday, August 9. Visit the Campus Mail Services website to learn more about services offered through this office.
Hillside and Susquehanna mailrooms
Students living in Summer housing will be issued a PO Box number. Mail is delivered Monday-Friday.
- Susquehanna mailroom is located outside the Apartments Community Area Office – Choconut 102, between Brandywine and Choconut. The doorway is on the left, under the covered outdoor entryway, before you enter the hallway to the office.
- Hillside mailroom is located behind Belmont, across from Palisades.
Parking
If you plan to bring a vehicle to campus, you need to get a Summer parking permit. See the Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) website for more detailed information.
Campus shuttle service
Limited campus shuttle service is available over the Summer, as well as the BC Transit Service. Check this web page for more details.
