Research Opportunities
Demographics in Philosophy Project; Document research, Library research, Performance work
Description:
Since 2015, the Demographics in Philosophy Project [DIPP] has sought to increase disciplinary awareness of the ongoing issues associated w/ the under representation of women and minorities in philosophy. DIPP collates existing data as well as conducts original research on under represented groups in philosophy. We create and share resources for those who want to increase inclusiveness in philosophy. Follow this link for more information on our project: women-in-philosophy.org
Our project has been featured on several blogs and news sites. For example, we shared our work with local and online media outlets, such as phys.org (https://phys.org/news/2017-05-women-underrepresented-philosophy-journals-reveals.html), in addition to the Daily Nous (http://dailynous.com/2017/05/26/women-philosophy-journals-new-data/), and the APA blog (http://blog.apaonline.org/2017/05/25/how-to-improve-the-situation-for-women-in-philosophy/).
We are seeking an undergrad research assistant volunteer to help with data collection, literature reviews, emailing and related tasks. The research assistant will be supervised remotely and must be able to attend bi-weekly meetings via Skype. There will be opportunities to collaborate with researchers at other universities including the Univ. of California Santa Barbara and the Univ of California Riverside. Available on an ongoing basis.
