Adult Dance Classes

in Ballet, Jazz, South Asian and Tap!

We are pleased to be offering this program again for Fall 2021. The Theatre Department will offer dance classes open to adults beginning Monday, Sept. 13, 2021. Six different classes will be offered in Ballet, Jazz, South Asian and Tap run for 10 weeks, ending the week of Monday, Nov. 15, 2021.

NOTE: All participants must be vaccinated and wear a mask during classes per Binghamton University's vaccination and mask mandate for indoor spaces. Proof of vaccination must be shown at the first class. 

The fee for each program is $120 for 10 weeks of each program you enroll in. payment by credit card only. Classes are in the Fine Arts Building on the Binghamton University campus. Class participants without a campus parking permit are encouraged to park in the parking ramp just outside Fine Arts for $1/hour.

All participants above the age of 18 are welcome to join. Prior experience is not required. All that matters is that you want to move! 

Choose from the following classes; register for one, two or all four styles:

Tap I from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Mondays with David Wynen in 93A

Enjoy a great workout that is built on walking steps. Build stamina, ankle strength, and balance. Come and dance along as David plays an entertaining mix of jazz, lounge and pop classics to inspire.

Tap II from 6:45-7:45 p.m. Mondays with David Wynen in 93A

This class is perfect for those who took tap last semester or who have taken classes recently, would like to learn more choreography and are ready for the next level of tap dancing.

Ballet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays or Thursdays with Neva Kenny in FA 104

Ballet technique involves and challenges the entire body. Its intricacies and harmonies stimulate the mind as well as the body. Choose the Tuesday or Thursday class, or better yet - sign up for both!

Dances of South Asia from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays with Lakshmi Bulathsinghala in FA 93A

Explore the fundamentals of traditional and modern South Asian dance; learning the vocabulary, music and cultural influences that inform the art of movement of South Asia.

Jazz from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays with David Wynen in FA 91

Jazz class will include a warm up based on the work of Luigi and classic Broadway jazz. Enjoy a rewarding workout and classic jazz moves.
