Campus Recovery Support Group (CRSG)

RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE

Campus Recovery Support Group offers support to individuals at any stage of their recovery journey. Join a community of people who offer encouragement, understanding, and accessible tools to help you navigate getting or staying sober. CRSG was established in Spring 2021 as a joint initiative by ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ students in recovery, the University Counseling Center, and the Alcohol, Tobacco & Other Drugs Office. CRSG's mission is to connect students with like-minded peers who are living a substance-free lifestyle, are sober curious, and/or are supporting a family member in recovery.

The CRSG is dedicated to providing:

  • a safe, nurturing environment for those in recovery or interested in recovery
  • assistance in preventing a return to substance use
  • sober social activities that promote community engagement and personal fulfillment
  • connections to campus services that support academic and personal goals
  • educational programming aimed at reducing the stigma around recovery
  • volunteer opportunities to grow the campus recovery capital

Meetings

CRSG meetings are completely confidential, and open to all undergraduate and graduate students in recovery from substance use or seeking a sober lifestyle. Meetings are facilitated by peer mentors. Meetings are held once per week.

Become a Peer Mentor

Peer mentors are students who have personal experiences with substance use/misuse, and who want to be points of connection for students who are curious about the CRSG or interested in getting involved. In addition to attending CRSG meetings, peer mentors organize events, provide one-on-one support, assist with recovery ally trainings, etc.

Become a Recovery Ally

The Recovery Ally Training program seeks to expand the community's knowledge and awareness of substance use disorders, decrease stigma, and grow individual intervention skills. Recovery ally training is delivered in an interactive format and is meant to provide a starting point for friends, family members, lay persons, employers, health care providers, etc. to support those in or seeking recovery from a substance use disorder.

Individual modules in the 3-hour program include: Basic Science; Social Justice, Stigma & Recovery; What Does and Ally Do; Stages of Change & Motivational Interviewing; and Pathways to Recovery. An expanded version of the training (6 hours) provides more in-depth information about motivational interviewing. Individuals who complete the Recovery Ally Training are provided a recovery ally sticker and certificate.
