Come have coffee, tea and snacks with David Romig, Decker Graduate school Alumni (FNP) David is a passionate advocate for patients fostering collaborative relationships with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes. David began his career as an Emergency Medical Technician then Paramedic in the early 90s. He worked as a paramedic for 12 years advancing into management and assisting with education in the US as well as overseas in India. David began his nursing career in 2004 as an emergency room nurse working at small rural emergency rooms and the regional trauma center. In 2007, he was recruited to work on the Guthrie Air helicopter as a flight nurse/paramedic. During his career as a flight provider, he worked as the regional education coordinator as well as safety coordinator. In 2015, David graduated from ������Ƶ as a FNP beginning work as a Nurse Practitioner in the emergency room at Robert Packer Hospital. Over the last nine years David continued to work in the emergency room, however took 3 years to work with electrophysiology at the Guthrie Clinic. At this time, David has accepted a position as Lead Hospital APP for the Guthrie Healthcare System. Representing the APPs in 5 departments of the Guthrie System.

Meet Your Host: Andrea Kaplan
Ayurvedic Counselor & Registered Nurse
I graduated from Decker in 2017, where I served as President of the Nursing Student Association (NSA). After graduation, I worked as a nurse in New York City, gaining experience in fast-paced, high-intensity care. However, my journey took a transformative turn when a major life change forced me to focus on my mental, emotional, and physical health. In 2020, amidst the challenges of working in NYC during the pandemic, I felt a growing pull toward holistic healing. Then, I began travel nursing.
During my time as a traveling nurse across the U.S. and Hawaii, I deepened my studies in Ayurvedic Medicine, traveling to India to get hands-on training and become a certified Ayurvedic Counselor. Now, I’m continuing my education in Colorado, pursuing the path to becoming an Ayurvedic Doctor.
In our coffee chat, we’ll explore Ayurveda—the sister science of yoga—and how this ancient system of medicine integrates lifestyle, diet, and herbal treatments to support healing. With growing scientific support for practices like meditation, stress management, and personalized nutrition, Ayurveda offers a holistic approach that complements contemporary healthcare. I hope to inspire you to expand your perspective on health and consider the value of traditional, Eastern, and integrative approaches alongside modern nursing.

You’re invited! The Decker Division of Advising and Academic Excellence welcomes all rising Decker Juniors to come to the Health Sciences Building for an event to welcome you to the building and to orient you with what to expect over the next few months! As a rising junior, you are expected to attend this event. The event will include: 
An informational presentation on the nursing curriculum: know what to expect over the next few months and what to expect in the Fall
A building tour: see where you will be having your clinical experiences, ask questions! Ask about student ambassadors' favorite study spots!
Experience mini simulations in the Innovative Simulation and Practice Center, ask questions of ISPC student staff to know what more to expect.

������Ƶ’s Pet Away Worry and Stress (PAWS) program provides students, faculty and staff, Animal-Assisted Interactions (AAI) with registered therapy dogs. Started in fall 2022, the PAWS program promotes a culture of social connectedness and encourages campus community members to seek out healthy outlets for stress reduction.

Join Nursing Scholars (Noodle) to learn more about tuition assistance programs that are available to Decker College Nursing Students. Nursing students at ������Ƶ have several opportunities for tuition sponsorship available through our partnered health systems. Through the Nursing Scholars Programs offered by these health systems, eligible Binghamton nursing students may receive between $25,000 and $65,000 in sponsorship toward the cost of their educational loans.

After graduation and licensure, selected scholars will transition into a full-time nursing role within their approved health system with an employment commitment of 2–3 years.
