Jennifer Larson, a Harpur’s Ferry volunteer, wrote an article about the student volunteer ambulance service’s response to the September 2011 floods. When ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ established a Red Cross shelter at its Events Center and West Gym, Harpur’s Ferry provided 24-hour care for 11 days for as many as 1,800 evacuees. was published in the Journal of Emergency Medical Services, the flagship publication for emergency medical services personnel.

Martin Bidney, professor emeritus of English and comparative literature, has had a book reviewed in a major newspaper in Germany. The book is West-East Divan: The Poems, with “Notes and Essays”: Goethe’s Intercultural Dialogues (Albany: SUNY Press, 2010) translated by Bidney (“Notes and Essays” translation assisted by Peter Anton von Arnim). Michelle Gardner, major gifts officer and liaison to the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science, was inducted into the SUNYCUAD Hall of Fame at its annual conference in June, for her significant contributions to the organization and its mission of service and education. SUNYCUAD is the professional organization for all full-time professionals working in university advancement at the 64 SUNY campuses, as well as SUNY System Administration. It promotes understanding and support of the State University and provides professional development and networking opportunities for advancement professionals in the areas of public relations, alumni relations, publications, electronic communications, development, government relations and marketing.
