������Ƶ has officially launched its search for a new president following that he will step down after 13 years of leadership. This search marks a significant moment in the University’s history as it seeks a leader to build on Stenger’s legacy and guide the institution into its next chapter of excellence.

The ������Ƶ Presidential Search Committee – consisting of representatives from the ������Ƶ Council, faculty, students, alumni, the ������Ƶ Foundation, and other key stakeholders – has been formed to oversee the process. In addition, the University has retained , a nationally recognized executive search firm, to assist in identifying and recruiting top candidates.

Community Engagement in the Search Process

As part of its commitment to being inclusive and transparent, Binghamton is adopting a representational approach, which strikes a balance between an open and a closed search. A representational search provides the advantages of significant campus input while mitigating a candidate’s risk of exposure, essential in developing a strong, robust and diverse candidate pool.

As a first step, the University is inviting students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members to provide input on the qualities and priorities they believe the next president should embody. The University encourages all stakeholders to participate in shaping the leadership criteria that will define the selection process.

The Presidential Search website has been established to serve as a central hub where the community can:

• Learn about the search process and timeline
• Receive updates from the search committee
• Submit feedback on the desired attributes and experience of the next University president

A Comprehensive and Rigorous Selection Process

The Presidential Search Committee is responsible for conducting a national search and will present a list of at least five highly qualified candidates to the ������Ƶ Council. The Council will then recommend three finalists to SUNY Chancellor John King, along with an assessment of their strengths and qualifications. The Chancellor will make a final recommendation to the SUNY Board of Trustees, which will approve the appointment of ������Ƶ’s next president.

“This is a defining moment for ������Ƶ, and through an inclusive search process, the University is confident that it will attract an outstanding leader to continue its trajectory of excellence,” said Kate Madigan, chair of the ������Ƶ Presidential Search Committee. “Community input will play a crucial role in ensuring that the next president reflects the values and aspirations of the University.”

As the search progresses, updates will be provided regularly, with recognition that confidentiality will be required at certain stages of the search.
