Good Neighbor Program

The Binghamton Off Campus College attempts to improve the relationship between students and their neighbors through the Good Neighbor Program (GNP). Through the GNP, students are encouraged to be good neighbors by following these established guidelines:

      • Familiarize yourself with the local laws and community expectations.
      • Introduce yourself to your neighbors.
      • Be mindful of how your actions affect your neighbors.
      • Find out if there are quiet hours in your community.
      • Keep your neighbors informed of large social gatherings. This shows respect and builds trust.
      • Keep your apartment or home and your yard clean and free of debris.
      • If you have a party or gathering, make sure that you clean up the property afterward.
      • Be aware of parking needs of elderly neighbors.
      • Take pride in your home and community.
      • Be safe and observant, and if you see something suspicious, contact the police.
      • Offer to help shovel snow or rake leaves for elderly neighbors.
      • Maintain the correct procedure for trash/recyclable collection.

Always remember that you are responsible for the action(s) of your guests - if
they cause problems for the neighborhood, the problem will ultimately be yours. The common goal is to respect your neighbors and your own right to enjoy a quiet, clean and peaceful neighborhood.
