Provider List

Directory of LGBTQ Welcoming Services:

Pride and Joy Families is proud to offer this Directory of LGBTQ Welcoming Services. Providers on this list have been recommended by LGBTQ community members, other LGBTQ organizations in the Southern Tier/Central NY, and by the providers themselves. Those listed have indicated their welcoming attitude toward LGBTQ clients and their desire to be included in our Directory. Content of listings is provided by and represented as accurate by the listed individuals and groups.

NEED ASSISTANCE? If you would like to find a provider for a specific need or if you are not sure whom to call for your needs, contact us at prideandjoyfamilies@gmail.com or and we'll refer you to the right provider.

Pride and Joy Families cannot guarantee a good fit between any welcoming service provider and client. However, our directory is a list of options and a place to begin when seeking affirmative services. Clients are advised to research any provider choice further by interviewing the provider, calling or visiting the office, or researching areas of specialization and experience. Clients are encouraged to always use thoroughness and care when selecting a service provider.

If you have used our directory, we welcome your feedback. If you would like to relay comments about a provider currently listed in our directory, please let us know. If you are a community member and have a provider to recommend to us—or if you are a provider with an LGBTQ-welcoming practice—please contact us. If you have general questions about our Directory or being listed here, please contact our staff at or prideandjoyfamilies@gmail.com.

    adoption@adoptionsfromtheheart.org

Offers domestic adoption, surrogacy in India, home studies, education classes and help with second parent adoptions. Our domestic adoption program is open to couples and singles and with open domestic adoption, birth parents choose the adoptive parent(s) by looking at profiles and videos. AFTH's Heartbeats Assisted Reproduction Program has partnered with Surrogacy Abroad to offer gestational surrogacy in India. This program makes it possible for intended parents who are unable to carry a child, to have a child that is biologically related to them. While maintaining the high quality of medical care, surrogacy in India is considerably less expensive that surrogacy in the U.S. and allows both intended parents of LGBT couples to be listed on the child's birth certificate. AFTH is proud to be one of the only two adoption agencies to have received the Human Relations Committee's Seal for supporting our LGBT families.

3 Sierks Lane Roslyn, NY 11576

    888-676-9015

At Greenberg & Greenberg, we understand the challenges that any couple faces during the adoption process. As a same-sex couple, the challenges you face when adopting can be extensive. Although our country has made great strides in acknowledging and expanding the rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community, the fact remains that the rights of same-sex couples are still a topic of much debate.

The state of New York is one of several states that allow same-sex couples to adopt. In a process known as cross adoption, one partner adopts a child while the second partner applies to become a second parent, or co-parent. Second-parent adoptions have been granted by courts in more than 20 states.

As same-sex couple adoptions pose a number of legal difficulties, our New York adoption attorneys are prepared to assist and support you through navigating the legal channels needed to make your adoption dreams a reality. Additionally, we can assist individuals who have adopted internationally as single parents with helping their partners become legal parents and guardians.

These teens have been thrown out of their homes or have run away from foster care because of homophobia, harassment, and physical abuse. Once on the streets, the majority of them turn to prostitution and drug use. We created the Peter Cicchino Youth Project to reach out to these young people and help them stabilize their lives. Through this project, we have assisted thousands of teens to navigate the complicated channels of government benefits, access permanent housing, and continue their education.

My approach with my clients is collaborative, interactive, and respectful. I am an eclectic therapist because trauma affects each individual differently. I view the client as the expert on his/her journey and myself as a consultant or guide. I focus on releasing the shame and pain of the trauma/abuse using tools and approaches with which the client is most comfortable. Together we create as safe a space as possible so that this work may occur. I am a strong believer in skill building, empowerment and visibility as antidotes to shame, secrecy and victimization. I am a therapist who has worked with survivors of trauma within and outside the LGBTQ Community for 30 years. Since symptoms always arise in a context, I find it helpful to explore individual histories using a family systems approach. I view symptoms as adaptations to trauma and am not confined by diagnostic labels. I work with men and women who have experienced traumatic life events from sexual assault to combat trauma to the death of loved ones to living with chronic illness. I use traditional talk therapy, EMDR, and bodywork in whatever configuration is agreed upon. Choice equals empowerment for most survivors.
