— Referrals are NOT monitored after hours, on weekends, or during holidays.
— For emergencies or urgent safety concerns, contact 911 or University Police at 607-777-2393 immediately.

CARE Team Referral

To submit a referral, complete the referral form below. Once the form is submitted, the CARE Team will review the information and follow up as needed. This may include contacting the student, the referring party, or other relevant individuals.

Once a referral is submitted:
1. The CARE Team will review — If appropriate, a case manager will contact the student, the referring party and/or other identified individuals within 1-2 business days.
2. The student referred will receive outreach from a case manager through their university email.
3. That student will need to input their B-number to access their outreach letter that contains resources.
4. The student will then be able to schedule an appointment with their case manager directly through this correspondence.


Submit a referral if you or another student is:

Reach out to the CARE Team if you or a student you know is:

  • Struggling personally and/or academically
  • Changes in behavior and/or personality 
  • Experiencing difficulties beyond their ability to cope
  • Experiencing a family emergency
  • Need to complete a full semester withdrawal

If you are concerned about someone's immediate safety, property destruction, or another emergency, please call 911 or University Police at 607-777-2393. For urgent concerns involving someone at risk of harming themselves or others, contact University Police without delay.


Referrals for Residential Students

Please note that the CARE Team collaborates closely with Residential Life Student Support Services. Residential students are typically referred to student support services through the CARE Team.

The Residential Life Student Support Team includes two full-time social workers and a team of Master of Social Work (MSW) program interns. They provide assistance with social, behavioral, emotional, and academic challenges, supporting residential students' well-being and success on campus.


Private Office Status

The CARE Team holds a private office status, meaning its confidentiality rules differ from those of medical or mental health providers.

  • Information is shared on a need-to-know basis, except in cases of crisis or imminent safety concerns.
  • Students may be asked to sign a release of information to facilitate collaboration.
  • Student may be referred to the Students of Concern Committee, or possibly reviewed by the Threat Assessment Team. All students referred will receive appropriate intervention based on their unique situations.

The CARE Team at ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ is dedicated to providing support, care, and advocacy for students in need. We are part of the Office of the Dean of Students and offer comprehensive case management services for students facing personal struggles, distress, or challenges that require additional support and resources.
