ABOUT THE COURSE
Most college students are exposed to research for the first time during their undergraduate or graduate studies. Conducting research is challenging and many students find it difficult to get started. This course is intended to enable students to kickstart their research career. While this course will use computer science examples to help students navigate the different aspects of research, the ideas discussed here are universal and the course will be helpful for students across disciplines. This short course contains videos related to reading a research paper, conducting effective literature survey, writing a research paper and reviewing one.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the course student will be able to:
- Quickly and effectively read research papers.
- Collect articles and research papers most relevant for their research.
- Identify the main sections of a research paper and learn how to assimilate and present their findings in the form of a research paper.
- List the main steps involved in reviewing a research paper as well as avoid some of the common mistakes while reviewing a research paper.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Anand Seetharam is broadly interested in the field of computer networking. His research interests include wireless networks, information-centric networks, ubiquitous computing, the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart grids.
