The Engineering Management Essentials Suite is for those who would like to learn the basic, in-demand skills required in a leadership role. In 鈥淟eadership Essentials鈥 you will discover how to become a more effective leader in any work environment and also your personal life. In 鈥淓ngineering Ethics鈥 you will strengthen your ability to deal with moral complexity and lastly in 鈥淧roject Management Essentials鈥, you will learn the tools critical to business and organizational success achieved by a result-oriented management style and the knowledge to inspire and motivate people and teams to perform at a higher level.

COST

  • 黑料视频 and SUNY students: $270 (you save $5 per course)
  • 黑料视频 faculty/staff/alumni: $420 (you save $10 per course)
  • Standard fee: $690 (you save $20 per course)

If you are not able to complete all courses in the bundle within the course timeframe you can retake the individual course for a fee of $35 (students) and $50 (non-students).


DELIVERY FORMAT

Each course has pre-recorded learning modules, self-assessment quizzes (ungraded) and a final graded online exam or assignment. 

CREDENTIALS

If you successfully complete all four courses within the assigned timeframe, you will receive the Engineering Management Sutie badge and a 黑料视频-issued completion certificate. You have to pass each course with a grade of 70% or higher in order to receive the credentials. 

COURSES

Leadership Essentials

This course will provide participants with the skills to become more effective leaders in any work environment and also in their personal lives. Each lesson will include easy-to-implement tips, tools and techniques. The course will include a comprehensive online multiple-choice exam to validate learning objectives have been met. After successfully completing this course you will be able to: 

  • Understand the definition of leadership and management, and how these roles can be integrated.
  • Appreciate the concept of long-term strategic planning and exploiting core competencies.
  • Value change, understand why it鈥檚 necessary and how to successfully implement it.
  • Overcome the fear and stress associated with change.
  • Define a set of personal and professional ethics, morals, values and beliefs.
  • Understand how to create a sustainable competitive advantage over the competition.

Engineering Ethics

As engineers, we make technical decisions every day. At times, we are faced with important ethical decisions that can have a profound effect on 鈥媜ur clients, our business, ourselves and the general public. This course seeks to increase our ability to deal effectively with moral complexity in engineering, to strengthen our ability to reason clearly and to think carefully about moral questions. At the completion of the course the learner will be able to:

  • Define fundamental terminology, such as ethics, morals, beliefs, code, values and corporate social responsibility.
  • Recognize how engineers should facilitate ethical behavior though engagement with others.
  • Identify the role of the engineer in corporate social responsibility.
  • Translate professional ethics into one鈥檚 personal life.
  • Explain why diversity, equity and inclusion is a moral and ethical imperative.

Project Management Essentials

Project management provides people with a powerful set of tools that improves their ability to plan, implement, and manage activities to accomplish specific objectives. But project management is more than just a set of tools; it's a result-oriented management style that places a premium on building collaborative relationships among a diverse group of people who work together.

Nowadays, project management skills are desirable in virtually every major industry. Aerospace, automotive, business management, construction, engineering, financial services, information technology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare and telecommunications, just to name a few. After the completion of the course the learner will be able to:

  • Recognize the technical and socio-cultural dimensions of project management. 
  • Define a project scope and deliverables, work breakdown structure, scheduling and progress monitoring methods. 
  • Describe how to allocate resources, maintain budget control and status reporting.
  • Understand the importance of shaping a project culture, motivating the personnel, resolving conflict and shaping customer expectations.

INSTRUCTORS

Michael D. Ford (M.S.I.S.E., CFPIM, CSCP, CLTD, CQA, CRE, CQE, ACPF, CPSM, CSSGB) is a supply-chain expert with TQM Works Consulting. He provides innovative solutions, based on 30 years of experience in retail, distribution, manufacturing and consulting.

His work history includes software implementation, business planning, inventory control, distribution planning and corporate training. This includes a broad range of experience from ETO (engineer to order) to MTS (make to stock), as well as nonprofits, service and the Department of Defense.

He has presented at over 350 industry events throughout the U.S., Canada, Japan, Nigeria, South Africa and Australia, and he has provided over 5,000 hours of classroom training, averaging 4.5/5.0 on evaluations.

Yong Wang is an assistant professor in the School of Systems Science and Industrial Engineering at 黑料视频. He teaches Project Management, Engineering Economics, Operations Research, and Computer Programming for Engineers. He is a member of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).

Wang received a PhD in industrial engineering and operations research from University of Illinois at Chicago. He also received a PhD in energy and power engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China), and he was a visiting scholar in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
