Alumni Connect – November 2018
Saluting our alumni veterans
ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ was ranked 69 out of 1820 schools in the "Best for Vets" , making it one of the most veteran-friendly colleges in the nation. To honor our veterans this Veterans Day, we are featuring a few of our alumni who are veterans and have graciously shared their stories with us. In this feature they take time to reflect on why they enlisted, what they accomplished and what Veterans Day means to them.
Binghamton moves up in U.S. News rankings
ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ rose from #87 to #80 in this year’s U.S. News & World Report’s ranking of national universities, also moving from #37 to #32 for public universities. The magazine publishes its rankings of all national universities each fall, and Binghamton has been in the high 80s for the past several years. This year, U.S. News updated its methodology to place more emphasis on student outcomes, which helped Binghamton move up.
Adam Fox ‘92: Section Chief of Trauma
Alumnus Adam Fox is the section chief of trauma surgery at Rutgers University Medical School. And while he holds titles he still found time to do a quick interview with us. Since graduating, Adam has stayed very active with Binghamton, especially with Harpur students and Harpur's Ferry. Thanks to much of his hard work, Adam was instrumental in bringing "Stop the Bleed" to ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ. Read his story and get inspired!
Scott Horowitz '06 advises on public service careers
Scott is a special assistant for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, working on teams that support front-liners, such as Secret Service and border agents. He recently shared his experiences with Binghamton students during a virtual campus visit.
No one says it better than students!
It's National Philanthropy Day and the Student Philanthropy Committee is taking time to say thank you to our alumni for their support of ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ. To show how grateful they are, we're sharing a few thank you notes our students are sending to alumni donors. We hope you enjoy them!
Alumni have more opportunities to help students
The Alumni Association has long been committed to providing opportunities for current students to engage in meaningful networking with alumni. This commitment is being reaffirmed this academic year by an increase in programming to bring students and alumni together.
