In March 2014, the Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development (previously the Career Development Center) opened its doors to students. Once located in the basement of Glenn G. Bartle Library, the Fleishman Career Center now resides in the heart of campus in the University Union. Our relocation marked a turning point in our history, one that represented a cultural shift on campus that established career services and the personal and professional growth of Binghamton students as a high priority.
Today, the Fleishman Career Center works to foster collaboration, growth and exploration. We have a strong commitment to creating an inclusive and accessible space for all students and understand the importance of a supportive atmosphere in unlocking students鈥 potential and empowering them to pursue meaningful opportunities. We create innovative programming and work together with campus partners to ensure that 100% of Binghamton students are immersed in career and personal growth.
Our dedication to excellence has not gone unnoticed. We are proud recipients of numerous prestigious awards, including the NCDA Exemplary Career Center Award and EY鈥檚 Founders Award for Innovation, recognizing the high quality and innovation of our programs and services. Our team of experienced career consultants, industry professionals, and passionate educators consistently strive to provide cutting-edge resources and tailored guidance. We understand the ever-evolving job market and aim to equip you with the skills, knowledge, and connections needed to thrive in your chosen field.
The Fleishman Career Center recognizes Steve Fleishman 鈥91 and Judith (Judy) Garczynski Fleishman 鈥90 for their generosity and leadership. Steve says he and his wife wanted to help students turn their education and hard work into jobs and careers after graduation. A bit of a 鈥淐areer Center junkie鈥 as a student, Steve had used the Center to learn how to write a resume and cover letter, and gain internship experience. When he recommended the career center to his friends, many had no idea it existed. In fact, Judy, a psychology major, did not know about the career center until her senior year. Due to their support and leadership, we have now been able to transform the career center to a far-reaching, impactful office that engages with over 70% of students across campus. The Fleishmans were presented with the Glenn G. Bartle Distinguished Alumni Award, the Alumni Association鈥檚 highest honor, in 2023 to recognize their continued dedication to Binghamton students and support of the career center.
