
Background
Jema (she/her/hers) has returned to upstate New York after over 15 years living overseas and working in higher education. She earned her master鈥檚 degree in clinical mental health counseling at SUNY Plattsburgh completing her internship in the university counseling center. Additionally, she earned a master鈥檚 of education from Framingham State University, and studied journalism at Boston University. She has been a yoga teacher for over 20 years.
Her clinical interests are trauma, relational issues, life changes, self-esteem and identity development, multicultural issues, anxiety and mood disorders, grief and loss. Her approach is integrative centering acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solutions and strengths based work, and she is trained in trauma-informed somatic approaches. In her free time she enjoys exercise and dance, music, the outdoors, birdwatching, travel, theatre and spending time with friends and family.
