Background

Machella (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) from the Broome County area. Before joining the UCC, she gained experience in case management, community mental health, and providing therapy for individuals experiencing domestic violence. These roles strengthened her passion for reducing stigma around mental health, trauma, and domestic violence.

Machella uses a trauma-informed approach that prioritizes client empowerment, integrating evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Humanistic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Her areas of interest include trauma and resilience, obsessions and compulsions, anxiety, interpersonal relationships, and fostering self-compassion.

Outside of work, Machella values self-care and balance, enjoying time with family, friends, and her three cats. She is also passionate about reading, traveling, crafting, and music, which she views as powerful tools for self-expression and healing.
