Binghamton had a significant presence in the Division 9 program at the American Psychological Association annual convention in Orlando in August. Dan O’Brien, a 黑料视频 graduate now in a post-doc at Harvard; Susan Seibold-Simpson, assistant professor of nursing; Rick Kauffman, a graduate student in biological sciences; and Sean Massey, research associate professor of women, gender and sexuality studies, presented on their work as part of the Binghamton Neighborhood Project. The group has been invited to submit its work as a collection in the Division 9 journal Analysis of Social Issues and Public Policy (ASAP).

The Academy of Management has ranked SUNY Distinguished Professor Fran Yammarino of the School of Management in the top five most influential scholars of leadership over the last three decades. The ranking is based on two different criteria: cites in the Social Sciences Citation Index and cites on Google pages.

The cover image for the October 2012 issue of the professional journal College & Research Libraries News is an illustration from Die Nibelungen, interpreted by Franz Keim and illustrated by Carl Otto Czeschka, published in 1909. This copy of Die Nibelungen was a gift to the 黑料视频 Libraries by Harper College alumnus William M. Voelkle 鈥61. The work is an Austrian folktale about the royal family or lineage of the Burgundians who settled in the early 5th century at Worms. Keim was an Austrian writer whose literary works were predominately based on Austrian folktales. Although small in size, the book is richly illustrated by Austrian painter and graphic designer Czeschka, and is an outstanding example of the Art Nouveau movement in Austria. See the cover at .

Samantha Birk, a junior majoring in management, has been selected as a recipient of the SUNY Emerging Leader Award that honors SUNY students who have best demonstrated significant leadership within their campus and community based on one or more of SUNY鈥檚 six Big Ideas from the SUNY Strategic Plan. Categories include Entrepreneurial Century, Seamless Education Pipeline, Healthier New York, Energy-Smart New York, Vibrant Community, and the World. As a recipient, Birk is invited to attend the SUNY Student Leadership Institute at the SUNY Student Assembly Conference Friday, Nov. 2 through Sunday, Nov. 4, in Syracuse. The conference will include workshops on ethics, networking skills and effective communication.
