Ellen Badger, director of International Student and Scholar Services, has been selected as the 2012 recipient of the Marita Houlihan Award for Distinguished Contributions to the Field of International Education by NAFSA: Association of International Educators. She will receive the award at the 2012 Annual Conference and Expo, May 27-June 1, in Houston, Texas.

Karen Fennie, communications specialist in physical facilities, has been selected Member of the Year by the Triple Cities Runners Club. The TCRC annually recognizes a member who has made outstanding contributions to the club and running community over the years. Fennie volunteers at races, is race director for the annual Red Dress Run that raises money for the Crime Victims Assistance Center and has run six ultra marathons of 100 miles, with her seventh 鈥 the Western States Endurance Run in the Sierra Mountains of California 鈥 scheduled for June.

Martin Bidney, professor emeritus of English and comparative literature, was interviewed by Bill Jaker on the WSKG program “Off the Page” Tuesday, April 3. The tells more. Bidney discussed his English verse rendition of Divine Adventure: The Fantastic Travels of Dante, Ernesto Cerni and Francesca Gambino’s book retelling the Divine Comedy as a story poem for young people. Ellen Badger, director of International Student and Scholar Services, co-presented the NAFSA Webinar 鈥淲hen Federal Agents Come Calling: Educating Campus Stakeholders鈥 with two immigration attorneys in March. The presentation has the highest number of registrants ever for a NAFSA Webinar. It was viewed at 283 sites by more than 1,100 participants, as they prepare for visits from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.
